Volunteer in Asia
Asia is a continent steeped in age-old traditions and unique cultures in each of its member countries. From the secluded hill tribes of Northern Thailand to the crystal clear beaches of Mui Ne in Vietnam, this awe-inspiring continent is sure to take your breath away, no matter where you go.
Due to its relatively close geographic proximity, yet starkly contrasting way of life, Asia has been a favourite for Australians looking to volunteer overseas for a long time. i-to-i work with many different volunteer organizations: you could be to teaching English in Indonesia, working at child protection homes in Nepal or helping to build new homes for underprivileged families in Vietnam.
Volunteering through i-to-i allows you to delve into the culture of Asia whilst still exploring the well-known tourist attractions. When you’re not on your volunteer project in Asia, you could be checking out the Terracotta Warriors in China, the hauntingly beautiful waters of Halong Bay or the busy night markets of Bangkok.
So why does Asia need volunteers? Asia is a continent of startling contrast - not only from a cultural point-of-view but also in terms of education, living conditions and the economic welfare of its people. Take India as a perfect example: despite having one of the world’s fastest growing economies one quarter of the country’s population still live below the poverty line.
This is where i-to-i volunteers come in. Our volunteers help to feed and care for the underprivileged, educate children to provide a rosier future and rebuild homes which have been destroyed by political turbulence. With volunteer projects and placements throughout India, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Philippines, China and Nepal we are able to place volunteers in a wide range of roles depending on their skills and needs.
