Volunteer in Costa Rica
Volunteer in Costa Rica and you’ll have the opportunity to explore its natural beauty, tropical beaches and pristine rainforests. Costa Rica is still a fairly conservative country but its inhabitants are particularly friendly and live an enviably relaxed pace of life.
The capital San Jose is the only city of size and is located in the centre of the country. In the mountainous inland area of the Central Valley, you’ll find active volcanos, stunning waterfalls and its famous hot springs.
Despite its many charms, Costa Rica needs many volunteers to help protect its natural resources and endangered species, which are unique to this area. You can help re-introduce native species that have been poached, abused or abandoned back into the wild, or join the day-to-day activities that go into preserving the endangered leatherback turtle species.
Costa Rica also requires volunteers to participate on vitally important community projects. You could be involved in local projects set up to help underprivileged children with their education, or join a local building project that has already provided hundreds of hours to build better homes with local, sustainable materials.
