From the busy capital of Colombo to the country’s world-renowned golden beaches, volunteering in Sri Lanka will give you a unique travel experience and the chance to contribute to local communities.
Following the devastation of the Tsunami in December 2004, many Sri Lankans are slowly piecing their lives back together and rebuilding the areas that were torn apart in an instant. Sri Lanka needs support from volunteers more than ever before to help on community projects, to teach English to kids and help build homes for orphans in Kurunegala.
By volunteering in Sri Lanka at one of our community programs you’ll be making a tangible difference to the lives of many children, simply by entertaining, helping with homework and giving them a positive direction in life. You’ll also be helping to pass on your native English language skills, and by staying with a local Sri Lankan you’ll see a side of the country that most visitors to Sri Lanka will simply never experience.
If the Sri Lankan sun is getting a bit too much, then we recommend that you head to the hills to cool off amidst the country’s famous tea plantations and ancient cities during your down-time. Check out the Temple of the Tooth, an important religious artefact in Kandy, enjoy the beautiful National Parks or just chill out on one of many idyllic beaches.
