Volunteer Overseas with i-to-i
If you’re an Australian looking to volunteer overseas, then i-to-i can provide you with access to over 500 different projects.
You’ll also be traveling with the knowledge that you’ll have complete support before, during and after your experience overseas, and that there will be a whole heap of volunteers arriving in-country to continue your good work long after you leave.
Many people want to volunteer overseas, but are not sure why they should come through an organisation such as i-to-i. Here’s what we think are the top 5 reasons to volunteer through i-to-i:
1. You’ll be working at a genuine, grassroots project.
Unlike other volunteer travel operators, we don’t set up our own projects. We work with established community projects that desperately need overseas volunteers to achieve their aims. We don’t send people to projects that don’t need them: all projects dictate how many volunteers they wish to receive.

2. Unrivalled safety and support network.
Going overseas can be daunting, particularly if you are looking to volunteer in remote communities. We have proven support structures in place to help keep you safe, including i-to-i staff in-country, 24-hour emergency helpline, and crisis management teams ready to roll should the worst happen. Before you go we will provide you with full project briefing notes and information to keep you safe while you’re away.

3.Sustainable projects
By coming through i-to-i, you are a key link in a massive chain of volunteers. Because we are a global company working with hundreds of projects we can guarantee volunteers to each project. With our long-term relationships, you can be sure that the good work you do will be continued by further volunteers.

4.An all-inclusive placement fee
All i-to-i placements include accommodation, airport pick-up and most even include food, which means there’s very little for you to arrange. A lot of our accommodation is based in home-stays with local families allowing you to have an experience that your average tourist can only dream of. Upon arrival at your project you’ll also receive a complete orientation, and if you need to learn how to teach English as a foreign language, full training is included.

5.Against aid reliance
Volunteer placement fees don't contribute to the day-to-day running of the project. Many experts believe that the constant flow of financial aid into the developing world causes an over-reliance on foreign aid, which harms the long term stability of developing economies. It is our volunteer's time and effort that makes a difference. We’ve learned the hard way that this can lead to a reliance on foreign aid. We truely believe that by working together and forging relationships with the developing world, we can make a real and lasting difference.
